Quilt shops are the cornerstones of the sewing and quilting community. They provide gathering spaces for classes and a welcoming environment to get the creative juices flowing. They’re often places to get inspired, to learn new skills, or get just the right tools needed to unlock your potential.

In honor of Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day on January 27th, we held a contest to celebrate our love for quilt shops. We asked all of you out there to vote for your favorite shops and tell us about why they were special to you. The contest lasted just a few short weeks, but the response was overwhelming with over 2,800 votes!

Thanks to your support, the winners who had a combination of the most votes and the best comments from their customers, are now winning a free ByAnnie trunk show to display in their shop for a full month!

See if one the winners below is your favorite shop!

GRAND PRIZE WINNER: THE OLD COUNTRY STORE

Intercourse, PA

The Old Country Store has been a beloved staple in their community for several decades. In fact, they plan on using the prize trunk show to kick off their 40th anniversary celebration on May 25-26th, and will be displaying it in store throughout the month of June, 2018!

Over 200 people voted for this store, and many people commented on how they travel from miles around to visit this unique shop.  One person wrote, “They have lots of fabric, friendly staff, hundreds of locally made quilts that serve as great inspiration, and classes too. Also, they sell some nice novelties made by local craftsmen, that are distinct to the area. What really draws me to this store is the personal attention they give their customers!”

HONORABLE MENTION: EMMA’S QUILT CUPBOARD

Franklin, MA

Emma’s Quilt Cupboard is known to its community as a friendly shop, with a wonderful variety of fabrics and notions, as well as fun classes and clubs.

With over 100 votes from its customers, many people commented on the wonderful support they get from this shop. One customer wrote, “I love the great service from their knowledgeable and friendly staff. I’m a relatively new quilter and took classes at Emma’s which gave me the skills and confidence to tackle projects on my own. I liked knowing they were there to help and encourage me along the way. I use their excellent long arm services too. They’re above and beyond!”

HONORABLE MENTION: PINWHEELS & POSIES

Dickinson, TX

Pinwheels & Posies was a loved & thriving quilt shop until it was devastated last year during Hurricane Harvey. But, they’re a resilient shop, full of hope and determination. With much hard work and patience, they’re nearly ready to re-open!

Despite the temporary closure of their shop, they still remain a favorite among their customers, with over 100 votes! One loyal fan said, “No one is a stranger. You are treated exceptionally well by everyone regardless of your skill level. Classes are well prepared and feel welcoming.” Another wrote, “The staff makes you feel at home, like you’re their best friend no matter if you are just a beginner or if you have been quilting for decades. All of us locals are looking forward to having a place to create, quilt and sew again!”
