2023 Winner Highlights: Lickety Stitch

Karen Wisseman has owned Lickety Stitch Quilts in Lusk, Wyoming for 13 years. She has been sewing since childhood with a passion for fabric, sewing machines of all kinds, and quilting as a life-long hobby.

She started the shop on Main Street in 2010 and then added the building next door in 2017 to more than double the shop space. In 2023 another building was annexed for a classroom and retreat center.

For those who have not seen the store, please describe it.

Located in the least-populated county of the least-populated state in the US, visitors are always amazed and surprised to find a quilt shop of this quality and size in Lusk, Wyoming. The shop attracts visitors from all over the states and beyond.

Although you can find fabrics of almost every genre, Westerns, Wildlife and Batiks take front stage. Lickety Stitch Quilts is a full-service shop offering all the supplies to create quilts and other projects as well as long-arm and binding services to finish your quilts.

Please tell us about your staff.

Along with Karen Wisseman, the owner, you will find Jane Filener and Sarah Willey in attendence most days. All three are experienced quilters and can help you with your quilting questions, selecting fabrics for a quilt, or quilting advice.


Please tell us about any upcoming special events at your store.

Lickety Stitch sponsors two large retreats each spring and fall. The retreats are both in the same week, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday or Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Often devoted quilters choose to stay for both sessions. 64 seats are available at each retreat and more information can be found at www.licketystitchquilts.com
